Week 9 Challenge 2016

It's Week Nine of our Summer Reading Blog Challenge.  How is your reading going?

Are you wondering what to read next? Read the recommendation that Kailee wrote.
Lego Elves: Quest of Keys
Emily Jones was in her grandmother's garden. When she went to a tree to sit down, she fell through it. She was very confused. Then she found fire, earth, wind, and water elves. They all explained to Emily the only way to get back home was to find four keys to open the portal again. Can she do it? You'll have to read Quest of Keys to find out.

  1. While on our long car ride from Pennsylvania to North Carolina last week I read a book called, When The Butterflies Come. It was about a girl named Tara who needs to help her grandmother save some precious butterflies on a tropical island. Her grandmother leaves her 10 keys to help solve the mystery of who wants to harm the butterflies. This turned out to be a coincidence, because my family and I tried a new adult game called an Escape Room. We had to find keys and the correct locks to get out of the room. The book helped me with my thinking about the clues. The butterflies were on an island called Chuuk. I thought it was fictional, but I Googled it and it turns out that is it a real place. I learned something new about geography!

  2. Kylie H. Grade 3 Pet Show
Archie wanted to take his pet cat to the pet show, but it disappeared. Archie and his friends looked for the cat everywhere but they couldn't find it. Archie decided to take a different pet to the show. Would anyone like to guess what he took instead of his cat?

It is very, very small and does not make a sound.

maybe Archie took a dog to the pet show because his dog could do cool tricks!

That is a good guess Emerson, but it is not a dog. He took it to the show in a small glass jar to show it to the judges.

I think it is a spider. Spiders are small and they are quiet. It can fit in a small jar.

But when Jackie Robinson moved to the team he lived two houses down from Steve. He got to know Jackie really well. Steve got to know Jackie so well that for Steve's birthday Jackie got tickets so his whole class could watch a Dodgers game. When the Dodgers won the 1955 world series he sent him a team autographed ball. If you like baseball I think you should read this book.

This week I read a book called Pippa the Pumkin Fairy.
Pippa made jack-o'-lanterns for Halloween and she has festivals. One day she made some jack-o'-lanterns and they're all wrong . Then her friends came to check on her to see how she is doing. So she had all the pumpkins. She lied to them and told them that the jack-o'-lanterns are great and she is doing fine. But do not tell anyone but they did. When it was time for the festival it started raining and all the decorations were soggy and wet. I should just come clean because it's raining. So she said I'm sorry but what I'm about to show you is very bad. She took off the cloth that was covering them and then everybody started laughing and cheering for her. When she look back at pumpkins they were beautiful and they were so funny looking.

There was a tree and a boy who were best friends. The tree loved the boy. The boy climbed the tree trunk and he swung from her branches. He collected the leaves, played hide and go seek, ate the apples and rested under her. He got older and older and then the tree got lonely. Once the boy came back the tree was happy. The boy needed money so he took the apples from the tree and sold them. The tree was happy. The boy got older and the tree was lonely again. The boy came back and wanted a house for his family and the tree said he could take the branches and build a house. The tree was happy. Then the boy wanted a boat to sail far away so the tree said take my trunk for a boat. The boy came back after a long time and the tree said I have nothing left for you. The boy just needed a place to sit and the tree said sit on my stump and the tree was happy.
