Week 8 Challenge 2016

It's Week Eight of our Summer Reading Blog Challenge.  How is your reading going?

If you are looking for book suggestions, check out what Lan has to say about Shadow of the Shark.

Magic Treehouse: Shadow of the Shark by Mary Pope Osborne
I am reading Shadow of the Shark in the Magic Treehouse series. Its when Annie and Jack get to go on a vacation since they have done a lot of work. They want to go to where their friends have been to snorkel and go to the festivals based on the Ancient Mayans. When they go there they actually go back in time to Ancient Mayans and they help and girl named Heart Of The Wind to become the next ruler of the Mayans.

Sorry if I have not been posting lately. I'm doing lots of fun things this summer and I don't have time to post. Anyways, I have been reading What Do You Mean? by Jeri Ferris. This book is a biography and it is about Noah Webster. Noah was born on a farm. This book tells how you can learn about who made the most common dictionary today.
Fun Facts: 1. Noah thought though should be spelled like tho, live and give spelled liv and giv, and rough and tough spelled ruf and tuf. 2. He learned 25 languages. French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Swedish, Danish, Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Arabic, Chaldaic, Syriac, Samaritan, Ethiopic, Persian, Irish, Armoric, Anglo-Saxon, Portuguese, Welsh, Gothic, and early English.

  4. Hannah T. Grade 2. I read a book called Dixie by Grace Gilman. It is about Dixie the dog waiting for her owner Emma to come home from school. One day Emma came home and said, "I'm too excited to do anything today Dixie because I have a school play." Emma didn't know what the meant, but if Emma was excited, Dixie was excited! Dixie was so excited that she grabbed the play script from Emma's hands. Dixie tried to be good while Emma just studied her lines, but she was bored. Then Emma came home and told Dixie that she got the role of Dorothy in the play and that her dog was going to play the role of Toto! Emma began to get nervous that she was going to forget her lines, and she lost her red shoe. She was so upset, but Dixie found the shoe and the play went great! This story reminds me of when I did a play in preschool. I was a cow during the Christmas pageant. I wasn't nervous though.

  9. Caly H. Grade 3 This Is The Place For Me

This book is about a bear named Morty. He broke everything in his house because he was so big. He broke the chair, table, door and window. Snow went everywhere in his house so he packed up and went to find a new house. He first found a cave but it had a dragon in it. Then he found a candy house but he was hungry and he ate the whole house. Next he found a house on a boat but it started to sink because Morty was too big. He found another house that was too small and one that was too thin and one that was haunted. He was all alone and walked along sadly. Then he stopped at a house that had a broken chair, table, door and window. It was empty and he fixed everything and lived there.

P.S. It was really his old house!

Last week I started reading another book but was really busy so I didn't finish it but wanted to post about another book I read that was shorter.
It was a book called The Gruffalo. This was bought for my sister and I a few years ago from a friend of a family who lives in London. It was very popular there. It's about a small mouse who walked the forest and different animals tried to get him to go back to their house so they could eat him so he told a story about a gruffalo who was an scary monster. They didn't believe him but one day he came upon an actual Gruffalo. He took him through the forest so all the animals could see. He was the scariest mouse in the forest.

I am reading a book called double fudge by Judy Blume. I read the book before but I wanted to read it again because I haven't read it in a while. Sometimes you just need to start reading books that you thought you read before but then you start realizing that you've never read them as often as you think you have. So far in the book A little boy name fudge ( Farley) His older brother Peter and his mom and dad and their little baby sister find out that there long lost relatives have a Little boy and his name is Farley too . I can't wait to keep reading it !
