Week 7 Challenge 2016

It's Week Seven of our Summer Reading Blog Challenge.  How is your reading going?

If you are wondering what book to read next, check out what Rayne and Jasmine had to say about Green Eggs and Ham.

Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
There was a little kid named Sam who was trying to get an adult to eat green eggs and ham. Sam tried to get the adult to eat green eggs and ham in different places. I connected to this book because I have never had rice before but I tried it just like Sam did with his green eggs and ham. ~Rayne B., Grade 2
I like this book because its funny and my connection is I have tried green eggs and ham before when I was in Miss Taylor's class in kindergarten and I liked it. I also like that the book has lots of rhymes.  ~Jasmine A., Grade 2

I am reading Shadow of the Shark in the Magic Treehouse series. Its when Annie and Jack get to go on a vacation since they have done alot of work. They want to go to where their friends have been to snorkel and go to the festivals based on the Ancient Mayans. When they go there they actually go back in time to Ancient Mayans and they help and girl named Heart Of The Wind to become the next ruler of the Mayans.

    7. Lan N. Grade 4
She needed help because her father didn't know who to choose to be the next Mayan ruler so she needed help being the next ruler. Her father thought Jack should be the next ruler and he thought whatever Jack said was true. So, Jack used a cellphone to videotape a message to the Mayan ruler. He said Heart of the Wind should be the next ruler.

  3. Hannah T. Grade 2. A book I just read that I like is Dixie and the School Trip by Grace Gilman. The book is about where Emma is going to the school exhibit and when Emma isn't looking, her dog Dixie jumps on the bus and they sit together. Then before they know it they're at a museum and Dixie hides the dinosaur bones from the museum all over the museum. Emma noticed bones from the dinosaurs were missing, so she had to search for all of them. She found them all and gave them to Mrs. Diggs, the tour guide. Mrs. Diggs told Emma that she is a real bone expert. A connection I make about this story is that the dog Dixie reminds me of my baby sister because when I try to hide my things she always finds them! No matter how hard I try to hide them, she always finds them.

Then she flew away from the bird's nest when they were practing flying one time. She told many bats her story of how she got lost. One bat asked to see her face. Then the bat said your name is Stellaluna and you are my baby. Then her mother took her to eat some fruit. Stellaluna took her bird friends to see her family. 11. Kylie H. Grade 3 “The Secret of Cacklefur Castle”

This week at the castle, Geronimo met two more characters. Professor Frankenstein, Creepella’s grandfather, and an abandoned baby mouse that was left at the castle door. The family took the mouse into the castle and called it “Baby”. Geronimo liked how the Cacklefur family treated this baby mouse. Also during my reading this week, a large tree fell into the castle library and caught the curtains on fire. Geronimo put the fire out by pouring Stewrat’s stew on it. The whole family considered him a hero. Creepella told Geronimo it was time for him to go back to New Mouse City. The family gave Geronimo a plaque because of his bravery. They all considered him a member of the family!

My original predication about Geronimo actually came true. He decided to write a book about what he experienced in the castle. Even though his time there was very creepy and scary, he learned a very important lesson about all the different people he met. To find out more about this lesson, you must read his book “The Secret of Cacklefur Castle”.

Emily's mom found Emily playing on the obstacle course and was really mad at her. The next day she found a deer with her friend, the king did not believe them though. Then her mom told her to stay in her room she said she would be back in a little bit because she had to go to her meeting. Then she went to the meeting room but the guards would not let her in. Then she heard them say "OK, that is all for tonight" so Emily ran back to her room. Her mom did not notice she left her room. Then her mom said she can go hang out with her friends so she did. Then they walked around the castle and found diamonds in the wall and got really exited.

So now I am reading this new book called The Copper Gauntlet, which is the second book to another book I read a long time ago called The Iron Trial. Now in The Copper Gauntlet, Call and his two friends Aron and Tamara are returning back to the Magisterium (a place where they can practice their magic) and Call still has the pressure of him knowing that he is really the Enemy, which is very stressful to know. So that's basically all that I have read so far! Happy reading!
