Week 5 Challenge 2016

It's July Fourth. Happy Independence Day! It's also Week Five of our Summer Reading Blog Challenge. How is your reading going?

If you are wondering what book to read next, check out these suggestions from Gary C. and Amanda M.
Ninjago: The Green Ninja
This week I am reading Ninjago, The Green Ninja. The characters are Kai, Cole, Jay, and Zane. Lord Garmadon used the mega weapon on the Grundle fossil and made it come to life. The Ninjas were turned into kids. None of them liked being kids because they can't drive, nobody will listen to them, and they don't like bedtime. I predict the ninjas will fight the Grundle and defeat him. What do you think will happen? Read Ninjango: The Green Ninja to find out.
Gary C., Grade 3
Ever After High: The Storybook of Legends
I just finished reading Forever After High: The Story Book of Legends written by Shannon Hale. It is about the children of people from fairytales (Evil Queen, Prince Charming, Snow White, etc...) The Evil Queens daughter, Raven Queen, wanted to write her own legend instead of following the Evil Queens but she did not know that it could also affect the daughter of Snow White, Apple White's story. You will have to read the book to see what Raven Queen decides to do!
Amanda M., Grade 5

Tell Us What You're Reading

What are you reading this week? In the comment section below, tell us about your book. Write a short summary or choose from the questions provided under the "Getting Started" tab. Strive for a paragraph in length. Give details! We may feature your post next week.

Be sure to include your first name, the first initial of your last name, the grade you will enter in the fall, and title of your book.
Example: Fern Z. Grade 3 Charlotte's Web

Then, read the comments that your friends post and reply to at least one of them.

Finally, check back on the comment you wrote last week and see if you anyone has replied to you.

Happy blogging!

  8. Kylie H., Grade 3, Todd's Odd Day
In this book Todd went for a walk around the block and he saw many odd things. First, he saw a dog jogging with a pig. He also saw a fox with a mop, frogs playing soccer in the middle of the street, a cop stopping an otter on a log, and a lobster leaving a shop with a lollipop. That is so silly! He saw lots of other odd things too, but then his mom knocked on his bedroom door and woke him up. It was all a dream -- or maybe not! He went downstairs to join his mom at the breakfast table. She was reading a newspaper with an octopus sitting right beside her. The newspaper headline was "Octopus Escapes from Aquarium". I guess it really was an odd day for Todd.

  12. Kylie H., Grade 3, the Secret of Cacklefur Castle
This week Geronimo's creepy adventures in the castle continue. He meets many new residents of the castle. Two of my favorite residents are Snip and Snap. They are identical twin mice who are very smart and very good at computers -- just like my brother, Tyler! They play practical jokes on everyone in the castle. They play a few tricks on Geronimo and he is not very happy. It seems that everyone and everything Geronimo meets including the "talking toilet", the "flesh eating strawberries", and the mummies are all out to get him! He finally had enough and tried to escape the castle, but Boneham the Butler caught him. Geronimo just can't seem to get out of Creepella's creepy castle no matter how hard he tries.

A king decided to throw a ball so his son the prince could get married. Cinderella had to help her sisters get ready for the ball. The sisters laughed when Cinderlla said she wanted to go. The stepsisters went without Cinderella. Then Cinderlla heard a voice. It was her fairy godmother. The fairy godmother made a pumpkin into a coach, a rat into a coachman, two lizards into two footmen, and six mice into six white horses so Cinderella could go to the ball. She also made Cinderella a white dress with a flower and gave her a pair of shiny glass slippers. She told Cinderella all the fancy stuff would go back at midnight. Cinderella went to the ball. They prince danced with Cinderella all night. Then the clock struck midnight and Cinderella ran away and she lost one of her shoes. All the stuff turned back into what it was before. The prince found the slipper and tried it on every girl in the land and finally he got to Cinderlla's house. It didn't fit the sisters but when it was Cinderella's turn it fit perfectly.
