Week 2 Challenge 2016

It's Week Two of our Summer Reading Blog Challenge.  How is your reading going?  Quite a few of our bloggers answered that question last week.

If you are wondering what book to read next, here is a suggestion from Kylie H, Grade 3.
Geronimo Stilton: The Secret of Cacklefur Castle
I am reading the book Geronimo Stilton: The Secret of Cacklefur Castle. Geronimo was working, then Thea stopped by. She said to Geronimo that she was worried about him because he wasn't writing in the newspaper anymore.  More people asked why he wasn't writing. I predict that Geronimo will write something new.  What do you think? Read the Secret of Cacklefur Castle to find out.

Tell Us What You're Reading

What are you reading this week?  In the comment section below, tell us about your book.  Write a short summary or choose from the questions provided under the "Getting Started" tab.  Strive for a paragraph in length. Give details!  We may feature your post next week.

Be sure to include your first name, the first initial of your last name, the grade you will enter in the fall, and title of your book.
Example:  Fern Z. Grade 3 Charlotte's Web

Then, read the comments that your friends post and reply to at least one of them.

Finally, check back on the comment you wrote last week and see if you anyone has replied to you.

Happy blogging!

Eva's classmates came to help her. I want to plan a summer festival with my family. We are going to have a talent show, songs, and crafts.

I read a book called Penguins.Penguins can not fly (but they are birds); they spend most of their lives in the water. Some penguins live in warmer places than others like Africa, Australia, South America. Others live in colder places like Antarctica. Fun facts only polar bears live in the North Pole (No Penguins in the north pole.) Penguins have big webbed feet, they have layers of soft feathers. the penguins are perfect for their lives at sea (their stiff flippers act like boat paddles; they have big eyes to see under water.) their black backs make them had to sea from above the water. Their white bellies are hard to see from below the water. Penguins can swim about 15 mph.penguins have a barb which is a spikes on their tongues (so it can hold on to its prey with they caught it with their mouths) Fun fact when penguins want clean water they are able to let the salt out of their mouths and drink clean water. penguins slurping down dinner they have to be careful not to be dinner. penguins are the favorite dinner to marine mammals like leopard seal or killer whale. penguins are in danger when on land also like skua and an australiance eagle. on land they have a large colony/a big group of penguins that live together with thousands or even millions of penguins. most female penguins lay 2 eggs at a time; but often only 1 egg survives. the mother and father take turns keeping the eggs warm. when the parents finally come back with food the baby birds sing a specail song that their parents can find them (they each have their own specail song).there are 17 different kinds of penguins. a rockhopper penguin can jump upto 5 feet high.

In the next chapter of my book, Geronimo Stilton is still trying to come up with an idea for something to write about. Then he got a phone call from Creepella Von Cacklefur. She asked him to come with her to Cacklefur Castle for the reading of her grandfather's will. He does not want to go because he thinks the castle and her family are creepy. He disguised himself and tried to sneak away, but Creepella knew it was him and she mouse napped him, put him in her hearse, and is taking him to the castle. I cannot wait to find out what happens next to Geronimo Stilton.

Whenever Chief Goppernopper was doing something, Ook and Gluk ruined it. One day, Chief Goppernopper wanted to get revenge. He captured Ook's sister. Ook and Gluk used a time machine to travel through time and learned Kung Fu. They went back and rescued Ook's sister. This book is funny because a lot of crazy stuff happens. This book reminds me of Captain Underpants books.

Geronimo arrives at Cacklefur Castle with Creepella. The mountainside was shaped like a giant skull and the castle looked very spooky. Inside the castle, Geronimo first met Chompers, the watch-plant. The plant actually leaned over to welcome him and bit off one of his buttons. Creepella started to give Geronimo a tour of the creepy castle. On the tour he met the butler whose name was Boneham. He showed Geronimo to his room. The room looked like a big coffin. Above the bed was a sign that read, "Here Lies the Guest." Geronimo doesn't think he will ever be able to sleep in that bed. The room also had a deaf fireplace and a mirror that didn't work. The butler said the mirror was lazy! The carpet was naughty and wrapped Geronimo up inside of it. Geronimo eventually escaped and headed to the kitchen. There he met chef Stewrat, the Cacklefur family cook. He was making stew and it smelled delicious to Geronimo. He quickly poured a bowl for Geronimo. Geronimo loved it until he found out what it was made from. The chef used earthworm livers, bat thighs, iguana claws, snake spleen, and even a dirty sock. Yuck! I can't wait to read what happens next.
