Week 3 Challenge 2016

It's Week Three of our Summer Reading Blog Challenge.  How is your reading going?

Take a peek at what Wesley H., Grade 2, has been reading this week.
Stuck by Oliver Jeffers
Floyd is the main character in Stuck. His kite got stuck in a tree. He threw everything in the tree to get it out. He threw two boats, a long distance truck, a whale, firefighters, a fire truck, an orangutan, a house, and milkman into the tree. They all got stuck. Read this book to find out if Floyd gets his kite back.

This is a funny story.  Listen as the author reads part of it to you...

  1. Mrs. Allen, 4th grade math: I am reading a book called "Math Attack", By: Joan Orton. It is about a girl who thinks she cannot understand math. Every time her teacher asks her math problems, she feels like the numbers go flying out of her head. The numbers cause a problem every where she goes and she feels like she can't solve the problems. The numbers end up taking over classroom, the school, even her town! The numbers end up attacking her because she has to think very hard to figure out math but then she discovers it is not as hard as she thinks. The book helps students who are nervous or afraid of math. Math cannot be that bad once you learn to relax and practice!

She finds out her neighbor has a dog. At school she is making animal stories and they have to finish them by Friday. Her grandpa says she can go over and see the dog on Saturday but she decides she will see the dog before Friday. Then she goes over to see the dog and the dog is stuck near the fence. She helps get him out then she shows the dog to her friends. One of them is scared of the dog. She writes about the dog in school. Everyone likes her story.

  3. Jasmine A. grade 2 The watermelon seed This story is about a crocodile who loves watermelon and swallowed a black seed. He thinks the seed will grow in his guts and that vines will come out of his ears and also thinks that his stomach will stretch and his skin will stretch and thinks that he will end up in a fruit salad. Later he burps and the seed pops out and he said no more watermelon for me. Well maybe just a tiny piece. And then he swallowed another seed.

This week I am reading Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot Vs. the Jurassic Jackrabbits From Jupiter. I chose this book because I really like the Ricky Ricotta Mighty Robot series. In this book, the Mighty Robot has to fight jackrabbits that are half dinosaur. General Jackrabbit lives on Jupiter and mutated dinosaur cells with his own cells. He zapped them with his Meany Machine and made them big, strong, and mean.
